The subject of this PQ does not fall under my remit as this is a matter for the Minister for Education and Youth as she is the Minister with statutory responsibility for ETBs. My officials have been in contact with her Department and they would be happy to respond to you if you contact them directly.

2729. To ask the Minister for Education and Skills if he is aware of recent closures of evening classes in some ETB colleges (details supplied); if he will assist ETB’s in continuing to provide evening classes in north Dublin given they are of huge benefit to the community; and if he will make a statement on the matter. My Department is committed to supporting individuals in accessing and succeeding in Further Education and Training (FET) programmes. It is the responsibility of each Education and Training Board (ETB) to plan and deliver its services throughout the year, taking into account their allocated budgets and the specific needs of their local communities in line with its functions set out in the Education and Training Board Act of 2013. This function is carried out independently of my Department and my office. As Minister, I have no role in the operational planning and delivery of programmes.
My officials contacted City of Dublin ETB in relation to your query. City of Dublin ETB have advised that, while they regret the disappointment caused, they continue to offer a wide range other adult education courses in the north of Dublin that may be of interest. I would encourage people to contact City of Dublin ETB’s adult education service directly for further information on available programmes and supports.
