I have not had the opportunity to visit the Klear Further Education Services since my appointment as Minister of State. I have been advised that this service is an independent community-led organisation that receives funding from City of Dublin ETB in addition to other organisations. As part of City of Dublin ETB’s annual allocation, funding is provided to KLEAR Further Education Service for the delivery of adult literacy, community education and English Language (ESOL) courses.

As the Deputy was advised in the response to PQ 38797, both Minister Lawless and I have visited most of the Education and Training Boards (ETBs) across the country since appointed in February. We have found these engagements to be deeply informative and valuable in supporting our understanding of the delivery of Further Education and Training at local and regional levels. While our engagements have primarily focused on the ETBs themselves, we fully recognise the important role played by a wide range of providers, including community-based and other independent organisations, in the broader FET landscape. Many of these providers deliver essential services with the support and funding of ETBs within the parameters of the available budget. Should an invitation be extended to visit such a provider, it would, of course, be considered on its individual merits and subject to availability.
