Expenditure from the Defence Vote provides mainly for pay and allowance, operational and capital investment costs throughout the Defence Forces.

My Department does not provide funding on a geographic basis, with the limited exception of the funding provided from the Defence Vote to Civil Defence and for the maintenance and upgrade of military installations.
