1781. To ask the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine if he will extend the deadline of the forgotten farmers scheme, in view of the fact that applicants had difficulty in gathering the necessary documentation and information before the deadline and were unable to complete the application on time; and if he will make a statement on the matter. 1782. To ask the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine if he will consider late applications for the forgotten farmers scheme, in view of the fact that the application process was only open for a fortnight and the difficulties in obtaining the appropriate documentation and information in order to complete the application; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I propose to take Questions Nos. 1781 and 1782 together.

The application window for the scheme to support Long Established Young Farmers, more commonly referred to as forgotten farmers, has closed.

The scheme was widely flagged in the farming media, and was open for just over 3 weeks from July to receive applications. During that period, my Department issued text message reminders to potential applicants whose applications were still in draft.

The window to submit applications closed at 5:30pm on 13th August 2025 and, as per the terms and conditions of the scheme, late applications are deemed inadmissible.

There are no plans to extend the deadline or accept any further applications.
