I am committed to ensuring that An Garda Síochána has the resources it needs to fight crime and a strengthened, well-resourced Garda organisation is central to this policy. The Garda Vote in Budget 2025 saw unprecedented funding of over €2.48 billion for this year, a 27% increase since 2020 which is supporting the continued recruitment of Gardaí and staff.
As the Deputy will appreciate, the Garda Commissioner is responsible for the management and administration of An Garda Síochána. This includes the allocation and reassignment of resources. As Minister I have no role in these matters. However, in addition to the assignment of probationer Gardai as detailed in the attached link, I understand that internal transfers are implemented on an ongoing basis to meet the needs of the organisation.
In the interest of transparency, An Garda Síochána publish information in relation to Probationer Gardaí which is publicly available and can be found at the following link. I can advise the Deputy that the figures up to and including July have been published on the website. www.garda.ie/garda/en/about-us/our-departments/human-resources-and-people-development/garda-hr-directorate/garda-strength-breakdown-2025/garda-strength-breakdown-2025.html.
The Deputy should select the link for July 2025 (the latest dated for when information is published), and then choose the sheet titled 'Allocation of Probationer Gardaí by Division and Station 2015 to 31st July'.
It should also be noted that in August 2025 a further 154 Garda attested from the Garda Training College in Templemore.

I am informed by the Garda authorities that the table in the attached spreadsheet outline the number of Garda retirements (including voluntary, compulsory and cost neutral early retirements) in each Garda Division between 2020 and 2025, as of 31 August 2025.
