There are currently 690 applications from Palestinian nationals pending at different stages of the international protection process.

Beneficiaries of Temporary Protection hold temporary permission to remain in Ireland, and this permission is renewable on an annual basis as long as the Temporary Protection Directive remains in force.

I can advise the Deputy that on 15 July 2025, the Justice and Home Affairs Council unanimously agreed to extend Temporary Protection by a year until March 2027.

This was an important demonstration of continued solidarity and support for Ukraine at a time when innocent civilians continue to be displaced as a direct result of ongoing Russian aggression.

The table below shows the number of people who were granted or refused Temporary Protection by my Department for each of the years 2022, 2023, 2024 and up to 31 August 2025. It does not include those who voluntarily withdrew from Temporary Protection at a later date.

The table below shows the number of applications from Ukrainian nationals for international protection from February 2022 to 31 August 2025.

The IPO currently has 329 international protection applications in respect of Ukrainian nationals where a first instance decision has not yet issued.
