125. To ask the Minister for Environment, Community and Local Government the way in which a farmer (details supplied) can find out who owns the fishing rights on their land which bounds the River Suir; the way in which they can register their right to fish on their land; and if he will make a statement on the matter. In instances where fishing rights are reserved on a property (i.e. not belonging to the landowner) this would typically be recorded on Part 3 of the Land Registry folio as a burden. That folio will also include reference to the instrument under which those rights were reserved and the registered owner of the folio may apply to Tailte Éireann to inspect or obtain a copy of that instrument.
Similarly, a right to fish would also be recorded on the folio. If a registered owner of the folio believes that they legally have a right to fish on their land, they may apply to Tailte Éireann, with proof of that right, to have it officially recorded on the folio.
Further information on how to apply is available at www.tailte.ie.
