Ireland operates a managed employment permits system, designed to maximise the benefits of economic migration while minimising disruption to Ireland’s labour market.

The system is governed by the Employment Permits Act 2024, which provides the legislative framework for granting employment permits to non-EEA nationals seeking to work in Ireland. The Act outlines the criteria and procedures for applicants and employers, including provisions for appeals and reviews.

The Employment Permits Section of the Department informs me that the application referenced in the details supplied was reviewed under the statutory appeal process and the permit in question was approved on the 12th of August 2025.

The Department notes that, during the period following the launch of the new Employment Permits Online system at the end of April, a high volume of queries was received. This may have regrettably impacted response times in relation to this case.

The Department remains committed to delivering an efficient and responsive employment permits system that supports enterprise and maximises the benefits of economic migration.
