The Office of Public Works (OPW) can confirm works have been carried out on the Old Garda Station in Ennis.  The nature of the works, and expenditure are outlined in the following table:

The OPW has not carried out any further work on the building since November 2024.

No OPW funding is currently allocated to current or planned projects in the building.

The Courts Service of Ireland are directly responsible for Wicklow Courthouse and any future plans for it.

In this regard, any National Development Plan allocations and the prioritisation of same are a matter for the Department of Justice Home Affairs and Migration.

654. To ask the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform to provide details of the works undertaken on Wicklow town court house in 2024 and to date in 2025; the works, if any, planned over the coming year; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [47151/25]

Wicklow Town Court House is in the ownership of the Courts Service.  At the request of the Courts Service the OPW commissioned a condition survey for the roof of the Court House in 2024 and carried out remedial works to address the issues identified.  A contractor was selected through a competitive tender process and works carried out include the following;

  • Removing Dry Rot as agreed in the survey report
  • Cleaning gutters and repair blocked down pipes
  • Repair works to Roof light into main Court room
  • Replacement of wall plates
  • Re-lining of lead valleys and patch repairs to the slate roof.
In 2025, additional minor repair works were carried out to the premises as follows;
  • external doors and windows repairs
  • Maintenance of the external courtyard.
No further requests have been received from the Courts Service for works at Wicklow Town Court House.
