I propose to take Questions Nos. 625 and 626 together.

The Office of Public Works (OPW) does not have any ongoing works on site at the Rock of Dunamase other than routine maintenance.

Laois County Council is currently working on the public car park, picnic area and landscaping adjacent to the monument and the Deputy is advised to make contact with the Council to seek a detailed programme for these works.

Regarding the vegetation around the Rock of Dunamase, as we are now in September, the Wildlife Act 1976 enables that hedgerows and shrubs can be managed or cut.  This will happen at Dunamase as part of the maintenance schedule for the monuments in OPW care in the region.
