433. To ask the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport the Tier-1 and Tier-2 ports that have been assessed for hosting or serving an electric arc furnace and scrap pre-processing facility; the availability of deep-water berths, covered scrap handling and rail sidings; the planned upgrades that would facilitate circular-steel production, in tabular form; and if he will make a statement on the matter. As Minister of State for International & Road Transport, Logistics, Rail & Ports, I have responsibility for national ports policy in Ireland.  However, I am not involved in the day-to-day operations of the state's commercial port companies.

I have therefore referred the question to the port companies in question for direct, detailed reply. I would ask the Deputy to contact my office if a response is not received within 10 days.
