I wish to thank you for your recent query raised in relation to the Day Care service provided at Cahirsiveen Day Hospital in Kerry.
The HSE has reviewed your query in relation to the Day Care service in Cahirsiveen Day Hospital and has advised the Department that this service is still operational and is not closed at present. However, they did note that Cahirsiveen Day Hospital has recently experienced unanticipated staffing challenges. Therefore, on occasions when there was not sufficient staffing cover, the Day Hospital has had to temporarily close. In instances where this has occurred, advanced notice was provided to all attendees prior to such closures. The HSE acknowledges the inconvenience that these temporary closures of this service has had on its clients and their families and is actively seeking additional staff to ensure that this service can continue to be provided for the population of Cahirsiveen and the surrounding area.
The HSE has also reported that all clinics held in Cahirsiveen Day Hospital continue, these include: Dietetics, Diabetic Retinopathy Screening, Maternity Outreach Services, Ophthalmology, Surgical Outpatients, Diabetic Clinic, X-Ray, Physiotherapy clinics. The HSE has assured us that there are currently no plans to close Cahirsiveen Day Hospital at present.

As this is a service matter, I have asked the Health Service Executive to respond to the Deputy directly, as soon as possible.
