2448. To ask the Minister for Children, Disability and Equality the capital allocations that have been granted to her Department as part of the National Development Plan; whether any allocations have been made to developing publicly owned childcare facilities, if so the amount and the timeframe. The Capital Ceilings for the Department of Children, Disability and Equality were published in the National Development Plan on 22nd July 2025. A copy of the NDP is available on the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform website. (See link below)
In total, €795m has been allocated tor this Department for capital for the years 2026 - 2030. See split in table 1 below.
The allocation includes provision for Early Years and Childcare programmes, which will aim to allow for growth in the capacity of existing childcare facilities as well as the creation of new childcare facilities. Further information in that regard will be made in due course.
