I propose to take Questions Nos. 2086 and 2087 together.

My Department provides funding to a range of organisations including community, sporting and other voluntary sector organisations through grant schemes and programmes. These grant schemes and programmes do not generally provide organisations with capital funding.

My Department does provide non capital funding to a range of organisations including community and other voluntary sector organisations (which could including sporting organisations) through grant schemes and programmes. These organisations provide vital services in many areas across the justice sector including youth justice services, crime prevention, supporting victims of crime, migrant integration, and community safety. These grant schemes and programmes are from current expenditure. I have provided some examples below of funding opportunities which are relevant:

The Community Safety Fund allows for the proceeds of crime, seized by the Criminal Assets Bureau (CAB) and An Garda Síochána, to be directed into local projects to support and enhance community safety. In 2025, the Community Safety Fund was allocated €4 million and the allocation of that funding is currently being finalised.

This year, €3.5 million has been ringfenced for the 2025 Integration Fund, which was launched on 3 July, and remains open for applications until noon on 31 July. The Integration Fund combines two funds run in previous years: the International Protection Integration Fund and the Communities Integration Fund.

Another fund that is currently open for applications is the Ireland Against Racism Fund (IARF). The IARF provides funding for national and regional projects that aim to combat racism and foster racial equality and community cohesion. The IARF was launched on 16 July, and remains open for applications until 27 August.

In general, funding for Youth Justice projects is provided on an ongoing basis to existing projects without the need to invite applications for funding. However, when new Youth Justice projects are being established, and following approval from the Minister of State, advertisements for expressions of interest are published to invite proposals from community and youth service organisations to establish new projects in the selected areas.

I am informed that the Probation Service funds community organisations to develop and deliver services to offenders in their communities. Community organisations provide a range of services to offenders in local communities, including training and education, offender management programmes, residential accommodation, and drug and alcohol treatment programmes.

I am further informed that it has not been possible for An Garda Síochána to provide the information requested within the timeline provided. Once this information is available, I will forward it to the Deputy directly.
