1956. To ask the Tánaiste and Minister for Justice and Equality the number of fixed charge notices issued by Gardaí to drivers whose vehicles failed to comply with number plate regulations in 2022, 2023 and 2024; the number of drivers who failed to pay the fixed charge notices within the required time period; the number who were summoned to court; the number that were convicted; and if he will make a statement on the matter. 2073. To ask the Tánaiste and Minister for Justice and Equality further to Parliamentary Question No. 673 of 8 July 2025, if An Garda Síochána are now able to issue fixed charge notices (FCNs) for registration plate offences; if the Garda authorities have finalised incorporating amendments from the Road Traffic and Roads Act 2023 into Garda ICT systems to allow Gardaí issue FCNs for these offences directly from their mobility devices; if this information has now been communicated to the wider Garda organisation; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I propose to take Questions Nos. 1956 and 2073 together.

I have been informed by the Garda authorities that An Garda Síochána are not yet in a position to issue Fixed Charge Notices (FCNs) for registration plate offences. They are currently incorporating amendments from the Road Traffic and Roads Act 2023 into Garda ICT systems which will allow Gardaí to issue FCNs for these offences directly from their mobility devices. It is anticipated that this will be concluded very shortly and communicated to the wider Garda organisation.
