I propose to take Questions Nos. 1936 and 1937 together.

I am deeply conscious of the ongoing distress for the families and friends of people who go missing. The disappearance of any person is traumatic for their family and friends. My Department is committed to working with all relevant State bodies to help more families find their missing relatives.

My Department hosts a ceremony to mark Ireland’s National Missing Persons Day, an annual day of commemoration that takes place in December each year. The objective of National Missing Persons Day is to commemorate all those who have gone missing and recognise the lasting trauma for their families and friends. National Missing Persons Day also draws attention to open or unsolved missing persons cases, and creates an opportunity to provide information on available support services.

I am advised by Garda authorities that the tables below provide the most up to date information on the number of persons reported missing in each of the past ten years and to date in 2025; the number of whom are children by Garda Division; and the number of active missing persons cases by Garda Division.

Data is valid as of 17 July 2025, is operational and subject to change.

The 2025 figure is from 1 January 2025 to 17 July 2025.
