1824. To ask the Minister for Employment Affairs and Social Protection further to Parliamentary Question No. 159 of 16 July 2025, if he will intervene in relation to the matter; if he will instruct all State and semi-State bodies to investigate whether any of their workers have been affected by these issues; and if he will address these workers issues given this is denying the rights and privileges they were given by the article in question. I understand that the Deputy is referring to Article 83 of S.I. 312 of 1996 (the ‘Social Welfare (Consolidated Contributions and Insurability) Regulations 1996’) which concerns the conditions relating to the payment of a modified rate of PRSI for certain categories of workers.
Requests for insurability decision from a number of employees relating to the modified rate of insurance have been received in the Scope Section of the Department These can be complex cases and a number of these decisions have been appealed to the Social Welfare Appeals Office.
It is open to any worker who has an query about their social insurance classification to contact the Scope Section of my Department.
