Government is fully committed to delivering affordable housing at scale, and continuing to accelerate housing supply across all tenures. A comprehensive implementation strategy is in place to support the various affordable housing schemes now being delivered by a range of delivery partners. Overall, over 14,500 affordable housing solutions have been delivered since the launch of Housing for All, including nearly 2,000 in Cork.

Under Housing for All, the affordable housing delivery target for 2025 is 6,400 and a very strong pipeline is already in place across our delivery partners, including Local Authorities, Approved Housing Bodies, the Land Development Agency and the First Home Scheme.

Both Cork City and Cork County councils have established a significant pipeline of affordable housing delivery in the Cork area, and continue to work proactively with all delivery partners. Cork City Council has funding approval in place for ten schemes to deliver 465 affordable homes with the support of the Affordable Housing Fund by end 2027, of which 260 have been delivered by end Q1 2025. In addition, Cork County Council has funding approval for sixteen schemes supported by the Affordable Housing Fund to deliver 736 affordable homes by end 2027, of which 287 have been delivered by end Q1 2025.

Building on this progress, my Department will continue to engage with all delivery partners, including Cork City and Cork County councils, to further the development of the affordable housing delivery pipeline for 2025 and beyond, and to ensure that the affordable housing programme responds effectively to the affordable housing needs identified at a local level.
