My Department's Multi-annual Rural Water Programme is the main funding stream providing capital funding to address the challenges faced by the Rural Water Sector.
The overall purpose of the Programme is to provide the necessary funding to improve the quality, quantity and reliability of the water services relied upon by rural dwellers, where public water services are not available.
I recently announced funding of almost €74 million under the Programme. The funding provides much needed capital investment to improve water services in rural areas. Details of my announcement can be found as the following link: www.gov.ie/en/department-of-housing-local-government-and-heritage/press-releases/minister-browne-announces-74-million-capital-investment-funding-for-rural-water-services/
My Department has written to each of the local authorities that submitted applications advising of the decisions made, including to the local authority in the details supplied.
The administration of the Programme is devolved to local authorities. Each local authority has a Rural Water Liaison Officer who deals with the day to day administration of the Programme and can provide specific information on applications including those for the scheme named in the details supplied.
