I propose to take Questions Nos. 1395 and 1396 together.
My Department's current Multi-annual Rural Water Programme covers the period up to the end of 2026.
Under this cycle of the Programme, funding of more than €45 million is approved in principle for seven projects under measure A8 as a funding contribution to local authorities for projects to address the wastewater collection and treatment needs for villages without access to public wastewater services.
Details of the approved projects are available at the following link: www.gov.ie/en/department-of-housing-local-government-and-heritage/press-releases/minister-obrien-announces-successful-applications-under-50-million-rural-water-scheme/
Separately, there are a number of housing estates across the country that rely on developer provided infrastructure, including Rooskeagh Valley Estate in Shanagarry, for their water services. The water services infrastructure in these locations is commonly called DPI.
With effect from 1 January 2024, Uisce Éireann, as the national water authority, has responsibility for the remediation of DPI. I understand that Uisce Éireann has written to the residents of the Rooskeagh Valley Estate outlining the steps it is taking to resolve the issues within their estate, both in the short and longer term.
