To ask the Minister for Education and Skills to provide the total number of grant payments issued by the Department in each of the past five years, along with the total value of those grant payments for each year, in tabular form; and to confirm whether these figures include all schemes and discretionary grant programmes administered directly by the Department or through its agencies. During the period 2020-2025 grant payments totalling €12.747 billion were issued by my Department and a table with the yearly breakdown is below. This mainly relates to grant funding issued to Education and Training Boards (€5.345 billion), directly to schools (€4.168 billion), the school transport scheme (€1.717 billion), and to a number of aegis bodies (€672 million) along with a range of other grant payments issued across the primary and post primary education sectors.

This information is based on data taken from my Department's financial management system. The reports generated by this system capture the financial data for grants but does not readily capture the number of grant payments issued. Information on how grants provided by my Department are administered onwards by aegis bodies is not available on the Department's system. The Deputy may wish to request this information directly from my Department's aegis bodies. Contact details for the bodies are set out below for the Deputy's convenience.
