To date in 2025, the Passport Service has issued more than 615,000 passport books and cards. The Passport Service is responding well to demand during the busy summer period, with virtually all complete passport applications being processed within or well before advertised turnaround times. Over half of adult renewal applications are processed within 2 working days.
As of 23 July 2025, the number of passport applications being processed by the Passport Service with dispatch addresses in County Cork is 3,009.
The table below outlines how many of these applications are being processed by the Passport Service and how many applications require further action by the applicant such as the submission of supporting documents.
- | Requires Action by the Applicant | PPS processing | Total |
---|---|---|---|
TOTAL | 1,609 | 1,400 | 3,009 |
Passport Online is a user-friendly, efficient service that offers citizens the ability to apply online for their passport 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and is available to 99.9% of all applicants globally.
I would ask the Deputy to encourage their constituents who are travelling this year, particularly those with young children who require their first passport, to apply online and in plenty of time.
