Since 2023, there has been three major international AI summits held annually, with the latest being held in February of this year in Paris. After the summits held in Britain, South Korea and France it has been announced that the 2026 AI Summit will be held in India, building on the momentum from previous summits.

As we look ahead to Ireland’s upcoming Presidency of the Council of the European Union next year, one idea that has been raised is the potential of hosting an AI Summit here in Ireland. The EU Presidency is a huge opportunity and platform for Ireland to shape and drive forward work in the areas which we believe are of the greatest relevance for the European Union and its citizens. I want to assure you that AI and the transformative role it can play in our societies and economies will be a central theme of our EU Presidency, and I am working to ensure that an international event on AI is a key part of Ireland's Presidency programme.

This is an exciting prospect—one that reflects our ambition to be at the forefront of digital innovation and to foster meaningful dialogue on the opportunities and challenges AI presents.

Whether through dedicated events, expert panels, or policy discussions, I am committed to ensuring that AI remains high on the European agenda, guided by our shared values of trust, transparency, and human-centric innovation.
