I am advised by Revenue that the total amount collected on fuels for excise duty, carbon tax, and VAT, for each of the last ten years (2015–2024) and to date in 2025 are provided in the table below.
In relation to VAT, I am advised by Revenue that traders are not required to identify the VAT yield generated from the supply of specific goods and services on their VAT returns. Therefore, it is not possible to provide the VAT yield using taxpayer information alone. However, using Revenue and third-party data sources, a tentative estimate of the VAT generated on fuels can be provided below.
I am further advised that Revenue does not hold data relating to the NORA levy. The levy is administered by the National Oil Reserves Agency under the Minister of Climate, Energy and the Environment, who can supply the amounts collected in each of these years.
