61. To ask the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade if it will be ensured that the processing of a passport for a person (details supplied) will be processed urgently by his Department, as it is needed for work purposes; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [41691/25]

With regard to the specific application about which the Deputy has enquired, this is a paper application which was received on 16 June 25. The turnaround time for paper applications is 8 weeks. The Passport Service contacted the applicant directly to offer assistance.

The Passport Service requested further documents for the application on 22 July 25. The application cannot proceed until the required supporting documents have been received.

I strongly encourage the Deputy to advise his constituents of the advantages of using the substantially more efficient Passport Online service, which is now used by more than 93% of applicants worldwide.
