As Minister for Transport, I have responsibility for policy and overall funding in relation to public transport; however, I am not involved in the day-to-day operations of public transport.

While most public transport is funded through the NTA public service obligation (PSO) programme, there is part of the national public transport system that comprises non-subvented services. These non-subvented services are run on a commercial and competitive basis by bus and coach businesses of varying sizes throughout the country, such as AirCoach. As such any queries raised would be a matter for the company.

Further, Bus Éireann's Expressway services, including route 2, are commercial bus services and responsibility for the operation of the service is a matter for the company. I have, therefore, referred the Deputy's question to Bus Éireann for direct reply. Please advise my private office if you do not receive a reply within ten working days.
