The school to which the Deputy refers was approved to enter the department’s pipeline for a project under the Additional School Accommodation (ASA) Scheme. The project will provide 3 General Classrooms, Science and Preparation area, Construction Room and Preparation area, Home Economic Room, Graphic Design Laboratory, Music Room, Project Store, 2 SET Rooms & Ancillary Rooms and a 1 Class SEN Base. The project was devolved to the Mayo Sligo Leitrim Education Board (MSLETB) for delivery.
I can confirm that this project received my departments approval to proceed to Stage 2b (developed design) in October 2024, and my department now awaits a post planning report to include the necessary statutory permissions and the preparation of tender documents, from the school for review.
More recently the delivery body MSLETB were granted permission by the Department to utilise the modular framework to procure and deliver a bespoke toilet block for this school. It is now within the remit of MSLETB to progress this aspect of the project.
My department will continue to engage with the MSLETB and the school authority to provide practical advice and assistance on the project.
