The organisation in question is an independent voluntary organisation governed by its independent Board. As such, the establishment of a redress scheme is a matter for the organisation to determine.
It is not appropriate for my Department to otherwise comment in relation to ongoing legal matters involving this independent voluntary organisation.
The organisation receives some of its funding from the Department of Education and Youth. My officials engage regularly with the organisation to ensure proper governance in relation to Department funding.
My officials also engage with the organisation to ensure that it has adequate child safeguarding structures in place. My officials are satisfied that safeguarding is a priority for the organisation and that it has appropriate safeguarding structures.
