Responsibility for libraries development was transferred from the then Department of Housing, Planning, Community and Local Government to my Department with effect from 27 July 2017. Available details of the funding provided, by local authority area, under the Libraries Capital Programmes, from 2016 to date, are reflected in the attached document.

In addition to this investment, the Rural Regeneration and Development Fund (RRDF) provides funding for the development and construction of capital projects in towns and villages and rural areas across Ireland. The RRDF Fund has, to date, provided just over €103m to 26 projects across the country which include a library element. Details of funding provided under the RRDF Fund are attached.

Further details of all funding provided by the Libraries Development Unit of my Department to local authorities, for the provision of library services, can be viewed on my Department’s webpage at Libraries Development Funding Allocations
