530. To ask the Minister for Health if there will be sufficient car parking spaces in the new Children’s Hospital and the associated Ronald McDonald House to cater for the demand of spaces from the parents of in-patients, those at the paediatric accident and emergency department and those children who must attend as out-patients; and if she will make a statement on the matter. The National Children's Hospital Ireland will be a state-of-the-art facility providing 39 clinical specialities in Ireland's first fully digital public hospital.
Access to the National Children’s Hospital Ireland on the St. James’ Campus is well served by public transport. However, the plans and design for the hospital recognised the need for families to access the hospital by car.
I can advise the Deputy that the National Children’s Hospital Ireland car park is split across two floors of the new hospital with a total of 994 car park spaces. There are 319 spaces dedicated to staff and 675 for patients and families, of which 100 spaces are for those who will not be required to pay for parking.
I have asked the Health Service Executive to reply directly to the Deputy in relation to the operational aspects of this query as soon as possible.
