The HSE’s National Women and Infants Health Programme has led on the development of the National Endometriosis Framework and on the expansion of existing endometriosis services. The Framework sets out a defined clinical care pathway for women with endometriosis.
This work was in conjunction with endometriosis specialists and in consultation with stakeholders including the Irish Council for General Practitioners and the Endometriosis Association of Ireland.
The Framework is being implemented on a phased basis and is expected to be published shortly.
The HSE has shared the agreed Framework with the Irish Medical Organisation (IMO) as part of ongoing wider deliberations. The Framework will be published when final agreement is reached between the IMO, representing GPs, and the HSE regarding the role played by GPs in implementing the model of care.
