56. To ask the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform if he will provide an update on his Department’s work to recover pension overpayments from existing and former ministers and senior-grade civil servants; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [40129/25]

The issues the Deputy is referring to are in the main not overpayments, but a delay in addressing taxes due on retirement and anomalies in deductions of various pension contribution.
A review in relation to Ministers who may have been impacted regarding pension contributions and ASC has been completed. Those identified are being contacted and engagement is ongoing. I understand a number of recoupment plans are now in place.
Regarding CET, a review of retirees in relation to Chargeable Excess Tax and Withholding Tax is nearing completion and the NSSO has been in contact with individuals impacted. Work is progressing and I understand a number of recoupment plans are now in place.
