To ask the Minister for Housing, Planning, and Local Government the number of staff working in Tailte Éireann for each year from 2015 to 2025; the average processing time for an application for each year from 2015 to 2025, in tabular form; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The Tailte Éireann Act 2022, which was enacted in December 2022, led to the establishment of Tailte Éireann on 1 March 2023 following the merger of the Property Registration Authority, the Valuation Office and Ordnance Survey Ireland. Tailte Éireann is an independent Government agency under the aegis of my Department. Under Section 8(6) of the Tailte Éireann Act 2022, Tailte Éireann is independent in the performance of its functions.

The average processing time for an application

It is not possible for Tailte Éireann to provide the information relating to applications as requested in the required format.

It is important to note that Tailte Éireann provides a range of services on behalf of the State, including property registration system, property valuation service, and national mapping and surveying infrastructure for Ireland, each with different application types and processing times. It is not possible for Tailte Éireann to calculate an average processing time across all its services.

In delivering its services, Tailte Éireann engages with a wide range of customers and stakeholders, including surveyors, legal professionals, Government Departments, Local Authorities, financial institutions, utilities and private sector businesses, as well as hill walkers, academics, family historians, genealogists and members of the general public who make applications to purchase maps or apply for copies of Tailte Éireann archived records. Tailte Éireann is fully committed to providing a professional, efficient, and courteous service to all its service users.

Tailte Éireann has significantly invested in electronic solutions to enhance the customer experience and provide access to our products and services online, including access to the Land Register through landdirect.ie, access to the national mapping data via GeoHive, and to valuation data through the Ratepayer Occupier Portal and Valuation maps at maps.tailte.ie.

In addition, information, guidance, and practice directions have been provided on its website, www.tailte.ie, to provide answers to commonly asked questions and to assist customers in lodging correct applications to prevent any unnecessary delays in processing same.
