I propose to take PQs 115 and 116 together.
It is anticipated that the Education Therapy Service (ETS) will commence in some special schools at a later stage in the 2025/26 school year. Further roll out of the service will occur on a phased basis with a wider roll-out to further special schools commencing in the 2026/27 school year. In time, it is intended that this service will be available to schools with special classes and mainstream schools.
Work is ongoing on the establishment of the ETS and discussions regarding the recruitment process within the NCSE for the therapists’ positions is ongoing. ETS therapists will function within the governance and line management structure of the NCSE therapy service. Clinical governance will be provided through therapy managers ensuring robust clinical supervision and supporting therapists to deliver a model based on evidence, an agreed scope of practice and appropriate competency.
Once discussions on the recruitment process is finalised the NCSE will undertake a rigorous recruitment campaign to attract persons with the relevant skills and qualifications. Positions will be advertised on the NCSE website and relevant recruitment and social media platforms.
