My Department and its Offices are tenants in eleven buildings across the country in office accommodation provided to it through the Office of Public Works (OPW) who manage the State's property portfolio on behalf of Government Departments. These buildings are either state owned or leased from private landlords by the OPW.

I am informed that my Department therefore does not own any of the CCTV cameras installed on the buildings it currently occupies. The management and maintenance of the CCTV cameras is a matter for the building owners or management companies and the details of the file format is a matter for that organisation. The dissemination of CCTV footage is governed by the provisions of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
