The proposed work at the Coast Guard facility in Howth involves developing an area of disused land adjacent to the existing station. The work includes erection of suitable boundary fencing, access gate and surfacing works to provide additional external storage capacity for the station.
Planning permission for the development was granted in January 2025. €6,099 has been spent to date securing the site and on planning fees. The project was tendered in accordance with the Office of Public Works (OPW) procurement guidelines. The total approved cost for the works is €132,000, and this has been sanctioned by the Irish Coast Guard.
A contractor has been appointed by OPW and is ready to commence the works. The OPW is currently liaising with the contractor to finalise arrangements regarding the commencement date of the project with the work scheduled for completion this year.
