In alignment with the commitment in the Programme for Government, the Department of Health is tasked with exploring measures to ban commercial sunbed use in Ireland. To advance this objective, Minister of State Jennifer Murnane O’Connor has established a Cross-Departmental Working Group.

The Sunbeds Working Group will assess the feasibility and implications of a ban, evaluating public health, economic, and regulatory considerations and provide evidence-based recommendations to the Minister. This Group will consider potential impacts of a ban on commercial sunbed use including for individuals with psoriasis.
