I propose to take Questions Nos. 965 and 966 together.

In alignment with the commitment in the Programme for Government, the Department of Health is tasked with exploring ways to ban commercial sunbed use in Ireland. To advance this objective, Minister of State Jennifer Murnane O’Connor has established a Cross-Departmental Working Group.

The Sunbeds Working Group will assess the feasibility and implications of a ban on commercial sunbed use, evaluating public health, economic, and regulatory considerations and provide evidence-based recommendations to the Minister.

The Sunbeds Working Group met for the first time on 9 July 2025. It aims to provide a report with recommendations within 6 months. This will be accompanied by an implementation plan and a communications plan.

Please see attached the Terms of Reference, which includes the membership of the Working Group.
