Through our international development programme, the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade has provided support to the Population Council, an international non-governmental organisation, for its work to develop HIV prevention products for women in low-income settings. Funding of €500,000 was provided for this work in 2023. A further €500,000 was provided in July 2024. Department officials have been in contact with the Population Council as part of the standard review of the funding provided in 2024. The Population Council are aware that a decision on future funding will be communicated in the coming weeks.
