690. To ask the Tánaiste and Minister for Justice and Equality the number of fixed charges that have been issued by An Garda Síochána for failure to comply with vehicle registration plate regulations in the past year; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [38907/25]

I have been informed by Garda authorities that An Garda Síochána are not yet in a position to issue Fixed Charge Notices (FCNs) for registration plate offences. They are currently incorporating amendments from the Road Traffic and Roads Act 2023 into Garda ICT systems which will allow Gardaí to issue FCNs for these offences directly from their mobility devices. It is anticipated that this will be concluded in the coming weeks and communicated to the wider Garda organisation.
