589. Since the beginning of 2022 my Department has supported the delivery of 30,783 new social homes across thousands of individual projects funded through build, acquisition and leasing programmes.
My Department continually engages with local authorities and Approved Housing Bodies (AHB) while assessing applications for suitability, value for money and compliance with the various requirements of the applicable funding scheme. The decision to not proceed with a project which has previously been approved is not the norm, however the information sought is not readily available as the systems used to track projects though the various life-cycle stages do not record projects with approval that are subsequently placed on hold. The compilation of the data requested would involve delivery teams reviewing individual projects on a manual basis to assess whether deviations from original design or value for money factors led to the status of the project being revised.
My Department continues to receive and assess applications for suitability, value for money and compliance with the various requirements of the applicable funding scheme and the Department is committed to the provision of funding to local authorities and AHBs for the delivery of Social and Affordable housing projects.
