477. To ask the Minister for Education and Skills if her attention has been drawn to the site complexities in relation to providing a new ASD unit at a listed school (details supplied), given its partial location in a riparian area and also the need to preserve the existing Gaelic games pitch which also services an important wider community need; if she will confirm receipt of a report from the school regarding same; if she will provide a timescale for when the report will be considered or whether an on-site meeting would be advisable, in order to identify and accelerate an optimal agreed alternative location within the school grounds; and if she will make a statement on the matter. I can confirm to the Deputy that my department is in receipt of an application, for the Additional School Accommodation (ASA) scheme, from the school in question.

As the Deputy will be aware the school have sought the advice of an independent consultancy firm in relation to their preferred location for the Modular building.

I can confirm that my department has received the report prepared by the aforementioned consultant. My officials have referred the report to the school's appointed Project Manager for consideration and await their observations. Once this is received my department will be in a position to identify the appropriate next steps and will engage with the school directly on the matter.
