The National Action Plan Against Racism, published in March 2023, supports a range of actions designed to address racism and its impacts in Ireland. A whole-of-Government approach is set out, as racism is an issue that necessitates action by Government, public bodies, private bodies, communities and individuals.

The first National Action Plan Against Racism (NAPAR) implementation report was published by the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth (DCEDIY) in August 2024.

This function transferred to my Department on 1 May 2025, and the second NAPAR implementation Report is expected to be published in the coming weeks.

Dr Ebun Joseph was appointed as Special Rapporteur for Racial Equality and Racism on 2 July 2024 for a period of five years. The Special Rapporteur’s first report on the NAPAR is expected in Autumn 2025.
