205. To ask the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform to provide an update on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in his Department; the AI technologies the Department uses, the purpose and function of said technology in the context of the work of the Department, and the associated costs of the licensing or use of AI by the Department in the past 12 months, in tabular form. Following its publication of the Guidelines for the Responsible Use of Artificial Intelligence in the Public Service, my Department recently agreed an internal AI strategy at Management Board level. The strategy is fully aligned with the aforementioned Guidelines and covers how AI should be used in the context of the work of the Department. The Department has started trialling the use of a GenAI/LLM product, which I look forward to learning the outcomes of. This product is available as a free extension of a software product already licensed for use by my Department.
