As Minister of State for International & Road Transport, Logistics, Rail & Ports, I wish to advise that an extensive suite of regulations were introduced in May 2024 to govern the legal use of e-scooters on public roads. These regulations include provisions banning e-scooter use on footpaths and statutory limits on speed and power. I can confirm to the Deputy that my Department has no current plans to amend or extend e-scooter regulations.

Enforcement of the regulations falls under the remit of An Garda Síochána and non-compliance may result in a Fixed Charge Notice (FCN) of €50 or confiscation of the e-scooter.
