I can inform the Deputy that there has been no changes to the renewal of registration process in recent months.

Since October 2024, all renewals of immigration permissions transferred from An Garda Síochána to Immigration Service Delivery (ISD) of my Department. This has meant that applicants from across the country no longer have to attend in person at their local Garda Station to renew their permission.

From January 2025, the nationwide responsibility for first time immigration registrations also transferred from An Garda Siochana to ISD, therefore completing the civilianisation of administrative immigration functions.

My Department issued press releases in October 2024, and in January 2025, regarding these changes and notices were posted on my Department's ISD website.

Renewals of permission are completed using the ISD online renewal portal at inisonline.jahs.ie/user/login. Applicants do not need to attend the Burgh Quay Registration Office in person unless it is deemed necessary. Applications are accepted up to 12 weeks prior to expiry of a current Irish Residence Permit card to allow sufficient time for processing.

Detailed information on the renewal process is available on my Departments Immigration website at the following link: www.irishimmigration.ie/registering-your-immigration-permission/how-to-renew-your-current-permission/renewing-your-registration-permission-if-you-live-in-the-republic-of-ireland/#processing

As an Oireachtas member, you can also request the status of individual immigration cases by e-mail, using the Oireachtas Mail facility at: IMoireachtasmail@justice.ie, which has been specifically established for this purpose. This service enables up to date information on such cases to be obtained without the need to seek information by way of the Parliamentary Question process.
