Housing for All places an emphasis on the development of emergency accommodation through local authority or Approved Housing Body (AHB) owned facilities. Such developments will include the acquisition of existing properties for conversion, and land or sites to develop purpose built facilities, using the capital funding streams available to local authorities and AHBs. Looking to the future, such facilities in the ownership of local authorities and AHBs have the scope in time to be repurposed to support social housing delivery.
My Department is currently engaging with the relevant local authority in relation to an application for capital funding in respect of the named building. The application is being reviewed in accordance with my Department's Guidelines on New Emergency Accommodation, published in 2022. Once all requested documentation has been provided to my Department, a decision with regard to Capital Funding can be made .
