To ask the Minister for Housing, Planning, and Local Government to provide the cost to the Exchequer of the housing assistance payment in each of the years since its creation in 2014, in tabular form; and an estimation of the cost for each year from the last year for which final numbers are available until 2030. My Department publishes comprehensive programme-level statistics on social housing delivery activity in all local authority areas on the statistics page of its website. Data in relation to the Housing Assistance Payment (HAP), including funding provided to end 2024, can be found on my Department’s website at this link:

Funding of €481.7m has been allocated for the HAP Scheme for 2025. Funding for future years is agreed on an annual basis as part of the annual Estimates process.
