478. To ask the Minister for Communications, Climate Action and Environment for a status update on the roll-out of the high-speed broadband network under the national broadband plan; for a breakdown of expenditure from the €400 million allocated in Budget 2025, to date and for the remainder of the year; to detail possible budget shortfalls; and if he will make a statement on the matter. €400m was allocated to the National Broadband Plan ( NBP) as part of the 2025 Estimates Process.

NBP expenditure this year to date, Jan 2025 to Jun 2025, is €185.5m.

Overall the project is on time and on budget though there is a profile issue in relation to expenditure this year. My Department is currently engaging with the Department of Public Expenditure, Infrastructure, Public Service Reform and Digitalisation in relation to this.

As of June 2025, over 380,000 premises have been passed representing over 68% of the total Intervention Area (IA) with some 420,000 premises forecasted to be passed by the end of 2025.

4,400 new connections are now being completed monthly, with over 134,000 premises connected at the end of June.
