244. To ask the Minister for Housing, Planning, and Local Government if he will support Waterways Ireland in setting up and operating a CRM system for logging and dealing with queries raised with the organisation, similar to many local authorities; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Waterways Ireland is a North South Implementation Body established under the British Irish Agreement of 10 April 1998. It is funded by my Department and the Department for Infrastructure in Northern Ireland as Sponsor Departments. Delegated expenditure limits for the body have been agreed by the Sponsor Departments, the Department of Finance in Northern Ireland and the Department of Public Expenditure, Infrastructure, Public Service Reform and Digitalisation.

A proposal to set up and operate a CRM system for logging and dealing with queries raised with the organisation is a matter for the Chief Executive of Waterways Ireland in the first instance. When a proposal exceeds the delegated expenditure limits, then prior approval of the Sponsor Departments must be obtained. Any such proposal would need to be considered by my Department in conjunction with the Department for Infrastructure.
